Jade Valley is an amazing destination: a private retreat and Nature sanctuary, a place to fully unplug - literally and figuratively - from the daily grind of busy modern Lifestyles, a place where one can immerse in the simple beauty of Nature, a place for Zen Meditation Practice, a place for Classical Asian Tea Culture, and a place of deep Healing.

Jade Valley is located just 8 minutes from downtown Nevada City (6 minutes from Dorsey exit / 49 Freeway) on breathtaking acreage, with a stand-alone Tea House to receive guests, and idyllic outdoor locations for Tea and Meditation in a quiet, spacious, park-like setting.

Jade Valley Tea Arts is a privately run Nature Retreat location where we host many kinds of different cultural events and experiences, and the setting and property are strictly held as private space for invited guests only. We are continually holding classes, workshops, ceremonies, retreats, and events in Tea, Zen Meditation, Japanese Cuisine, and spiritual studies. Our place is digi-free, so it allows for full immersion into the moment, without the usual distractions of calls, emails, social media, etc.

TEA OPTIONS
~Traditional Gong Fu Tea Ceremony $45 2 guest min. / $75 single guest (60 mins.)
Includes rare tea service, usage of Vintage/antique tea wares,
aloeswood incense, ambient music. Relaxing and informative.

~ Zen & Tea Micro-Session $70p/p 2 guest min. (90 mins.)
Upgraded tea & incense selection; Meditative, Rejuvinative, Uplifting.

~ZEN & TEA MINI RETREAT with Japanese Meal $140 p/p 2 person minimum, 4 maximum (3+ hours )
Includes very rare aged Puerh Tea, Zen overview and basic history, simple meditation training for a Nature sitting in a beautiful private outdoor setting, by a rushing stream, a glimpse of our very own Tea Plantation, and ending with an exquisite traditional Japanese meal. This experience is a deeply inspirational realignment with your Divine Source. It’s a taste of what our multi-day Healing Retreats have to offer.

~ASIAN TEA CLASS $65/p p 2 pers. min. or $80/ single (2 hours)
Includes use of antique Chinese and Japanese tea wares for drinking high level 'collectors only' teas from Taiwan, China and Japan, in a private tea house doubling as an antique showroom. Subject focus follows guest interests, covers a wide range of material.

Details & Timing
Mornings are best, after breakfast. Evening sittings can also be arranged but due to caffeine sensitivities, not recommended.
All service is done in a stand alone on-site private tea house.
Meditation is done out in Nature on the Jade Valley property (about 12 acres total area)

TRADITIONAL JAPANESE FOOD (2 guest absolute minimum)

Chef Hiroko Kurosaki was born, raised, trained and nationally certified in Japan. She specializes in traditional Japanese cuisine, as well as Shojin Riori - an ancient Zen Temple food tradition. Hiroko makes/produces her own homemade MISO - available for sampling and purchase.

All meals have Vegetarian, Vegan or FISH options
Most ingredients come from organic local farms or our garden, using seasonal vegetables, only wild caught fish.

Traditional Japanese Breakfast $22 per person vegan or vegetarian options
Traditional Japanese Dinner $32 per person fish / tofu / tempe main dish

JAPANESE COOKING CLASS $65 2 ppl min. (2 hours)
Includes taking home, where applicable, samples of miso, tsukemono (pickled vegetables), umeboshi, or similar. Season-specific themes.

CHI NEI TSANG: TAOIST ABDOMINAL MASSAGE 1 hour/$120
Hiroko, co-host and chef at the Jade Valley location, is offering a very rare healing technique developed in ancient times that offers emotional relief and relaxation. Through detoxing the internal organs, a release of emotional blockage occurs. This is very relaxing, simple and stress-relieving.

Jade Valley hosts an array of private programs, including education in Classical Tea Arts, Zen Meditation and Practices, Traditional Japanese Cuisine, Permaculture & Regenerative Agriculture, and Music. Custom Private Retreats, and Healing Retreats (see separate page for more details) for individuals, couples and small groups are also available.

Jade Valley sometimes hosts outside teachers, masters, and practitioners who need such a location for their very special private event.  Please contact us for more information if you feel your event may be a good fit for our location.
